2025年11月1日（星期六）上午10:00至11:10，来自康奈尔大学的 Chris Barrett 将在中国农业大学经济管理学院作主题讲座，题目为《Promoting rural development resilience amid agrifood systems transformation with some implications for China》。本次讲座将探讨实现健康、公平、韧性和可持续的农食系统转型的若干核心原则，以及其对政策、投资与制度的主要启示，并重点结合中国的相关背景进行分析。

Abstract

Food systems are foundational in cultural, economic, and political terms. That foundation faces unprecedented stresses today that manifest in multiple, inter-linked crises: higher and more volatile food prices, sociopolitical conflict, climate change and environmental degradation, infectious and non-communicable diseases, etc. The food polycrisis compels agrifood systems transformation. The question is how such change will occur, how quickly, and with what distribution of gains, losses and risks. This talk will discuss several key principles for healthy, equitable, resilient and sustainable food systems transformation and key implications for policies, investments, and institutions, with special reference to China.

About the Speaker

Chris Barrett 

Chris Barrett is an agricultural and development economist at Cornell University. He is the Stephen B. and Janice G. Ashley Professor of Applied Economics and Management, and an International Professor of Agriculture at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, a Professor in the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy, Faculty Director of the Cornell Collaboration on International Development Economics Research, and a Senior Faculty Fellow of the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability. He is co-editor-in-chief of Food Policy, edits the Palgrave Macmillan book series Agricultural Economics and Food Policy, and serves on the Editorial Board of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He is an elected Member of the National Academy of Sciences, and an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association, and the African Association of Agricultural Economists, and an Honorary Life Member of the International Association of Agricultural Economists.
