报告摘要:Environmental sustainability is constantly threatened by Increasing economic demand. How to motivate companies and individuals to reduce the demand for natural resources is a global challenge. This is a heuristic research which aims to propose an environmental demand approach to incentivising behaviour changes toward sustainability by using environmental value. We adopt environmental warm glow effect as a metric to measure environmental demand among consumers and empirically test the relationships between environmental demand and behaviour changes with a 2-period panel data collected from local and organic food consumers. The results show that environmental demand is positively associated with consumers’ intention and actual action to recycle food delivery box. Our findings have important policy implications in establishing a demand pathway to achieve environmental sustainability with economic growth. 报告人简介:Dr. Lili Jia is a Senior Research Associate (equivalent to Assistant Professor) at Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. She received her Bachelor and Master degrees from China Agricultural University and PhD from Martin Luther University. Her work seeks to design cost-effective social interventions to promote environmental sustainability and health in economic system. She recently has been awarded a Fellowship by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council to help Environment Agency in the UK to develop reward-based policy framework. Lili is among the three economists who first proposed the economics of material demand reduction.
